Why does my mustang start popping and cutting out around 5 thousand RPM?

i have a 1995 mustang with a 347 stroker, and when im driving in all gears if i git on it, around 5 thousand rpm it will start cutting out and miss..not sure why it does this? bad fuel filter? timing?
