Would a 700R4 be a good transmission for a 383 stroker?

Im about to put a 383 stroker into my 94 firebird and I got a buddy who has a 700R4 transmission for sale that he said would work good in it. The 700R4 is fresh rebuild, deep pan, younger high perforamce shift-kit, harden shell, mechanical speed-o gears,corvett e servo. I know it would work for the stroker but how good and what would be better for cheap. He wants $900 but will give it to me for $700.
